The Funky Hipsters are Cameron Gainer and me, Dylan Galvin.  This is 7/8 funk inspired jam.  Just imagine a car chase going on: big, boxy Cadillacs smashing into each other and evading the cops.  I ditched the acoustic guitar for my new custom G&L that was revamped by PST Guitars.  I hope you enjoy this performance, I ended up rocking so hard, my glasses fell off towards the end.  Enjoy.  If these go well, I will be putting more music up and possibly doing some local shows in MD

Here's a little bit from my last solo acoustic show at Lime Lounge in California, Maryland.  They have local musicians and jazz artists play every weekend, a perfect setting for an intimate music experience.  This is a cover of John Mayer's No Such Thing with an Eric Johnson style intro.

Ever have one of those days like this? I'm fighting a cold right now but will be on my way to perform in Baltimore, MD tonight at Tin Roof.  I'll be playing live with my band, The Piranhas.  If you want some entertainment, come out, there is no cover and I will be shredding some guitar 10-1:30

July 30, 2015: Tonight I'm playing my first full acoustic show in at Casey Jones in La Plata, MD tonight. 9-1.  No cover and I'll be playing a few new tunes.
I have been collaborating recently with a very talented fellow southern MD acoustic musician, Josh Airhart, as a music duo by the name of The Vaits.  Here is our newest cover of the Ray Lamontagne song, "Beg, Steal or Borrow".

This is a lyric video to my acoustic song, The Lass, loosely based on the life of my great grandmother, who was a touring musician in the 1930's.  If you have ever lost a mom, grandmother, or wonderful woman, this one goes out to you.  If you'd like to download your own MP3 of this for free, you can do so here: THE LASS

My newest acoustic piece, "Pulling Apart the Lilacs", is inspired by the phenomenon of how our culture negatively impacts self-perception of young women.   I recorded this in my room in La Plata, Maryland with a Snowball mic, Garageband a Macbook Air and lots of coffee.   Being a musician is fun sometimes.  I do it for the coffee.

Lyrics:

No one ever sees it coming

It isn’t something you can beat by running

Anxiously awaiting as the enemy’s invading

The machines in the offices are humming

Rest a little easy

You’re in very good hands

The troops are all in line

and they’re awaiting your command

Everyone is ready to provide you with support

Your brigade is ready for war

The doctors are burning up your cells

You’re spirit is wandering through hell

But when things are getting heavy you know mom and dad are ready

and all your friends are now your personnel

Rest a little easy

You’re in very good hands

The troops are all in line

and they’re awaiting your command

Everyone is ready to provide you with support

Your brigade is ready for war

You’re not going alone into this fight

Not one of us is going to leave your side

We’re with you every hour of every night

Until the dawn’s early light

Rest a little easy

You’re in very good hands

The troops are all in line

and they’re awaiting your command

Everyone is ready to provide you with support

Your brigade is ready for war
